Don't Miss These Moments: Why You Need a Wedding Videographer

As the owner of Blue Ridge Film Productions, I often hear couples debate whether hiring a videographer is worth it. And let me tell you—hands down, it absolutely is… yes, yes I may be biased, but hear me out!!

I know some couples hesitate, thinking a photographer will cover everything they need, but the truth is, they each capture the day in such unique and irreplaceable ways.

In my opinion, the short answer is: yes, hire a wedding videographer. Why? Because I’ve never met a couple who regretted having their wedding day on film. But I’ve heard plenty say they wish they had hired one. In fact The New York Times done a study a few years ago and 98% of couples that didn’t hire a wedding videographer… regretted it

Personally, I get it. My wife herself, didn’t initially think she needed a videographer. The thought of more planning and expenses was overwhelming, especially so close to the big day. But I was insistent, and I’m SO thankful she pushed through to go for it.

I can't tell you how many times I've watched our wedding highlight video—it’s the one thing I can always turn to and instantly relive the joy, love, and emotion from that day. We watch it every anniversary and it’s brings those emotional feels back to how special that day truly was.

Video is so much more than just pictures. It captures the moments you might miss in the whirlwind of your wedding day—the movement, the laughter, the vows, the toasts, and even the sound of your loved ones dancing and celebrating. These are moments that fade from memory, but a wedding video preserves them forever. My wife and I find our self watching our wedding film more than flipping through our photo album, because there’s something irreplaceable about hearing my dad’s voice during his speech, or seeing my wife’s eyes as we exchanged vows.

As someone who’s both a wedding a videographer, trust me—don’t skip the video. You’ll never regret it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime day, and having it on film is a priceless way to ensure you can relive those special moments again and again. So, if you’re on the fence—bite the bullet and hire that videographer. You’ll thank yourself later.
